Your Team Deserves The Truth... or do they?
Oct 29, 2024
Being transparent as a leader isn't just about trust. It's about creating a culture of belonging.
When your team understands the "why" behind decisions, they become invested. They fight harder for the mission.
But there's a fine line between transparency and TMI.
I've seen leaders share every detail about lost deals and layoff risks. Their teams became anxious and disengaged.
I've watched others do territory planning with too much input from reps. The result creates bias and can feel like a win for some and unfair for others.
Smart transparency looks different.
Share the vision and strategy clearly. Communicate changes that directly impact your team.
Celebrate wins AND discuss fixable losses. Frame challenges as opportunities for growth.

1. ๐๐๐ธ: "Will this information help my team perform better?"
2. ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ: "Could this create unnecessary anxiety?"
3. ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐๐: "What actions can they take with this information?"
Remember: Your team needs clarity, not confusion.
They need direction, not distraction.
They need leadership, not loose lips.
Share what empowers. Filter what frightens.
That's how you build trust that lasts.
